Even the most clean-eating health nut can get sucked into a gnarly sweet tooth from time to time.

And while it’s no big deal to indulge on occasion, regular consumption of added sugar can actually cause you to crave more sugar. Drat!

From fruity to chocolatey, here are some of my simple, quick swaps to get your sweet tooth fix.

  1. Simple Cinnamon Apples

Dice an apple and sauté in a teaspoon of pastured butter or coconut oil until slightly soft. Stir in a small squeeze of lemon juice and sprinkle with cinnamon. Spoon a little almond flour on top for a slight crumble texture.

  1. Chocolate Chunk Berry Parfaits

Sweeten 1 cup of unsweetened Greek yogurt with stevia. In a wine glass, pour 1/2 of the yogurt in the bottom. Top with berries and a few chocolate chunks. Add another layer of yogurt, berries, and chocolate chunks. ?

  1. Zevia

Zevia is a soda sweetened with stevia, a natural herb, that’s non-GMO (genetically modified). You can find it at Whole Foods or Sprouts in a variety of traditional soda flavors.

  1. Chocolate Pudding

In a small bowl, mix together:

  • 1 scoop of all natural protein powder
  • 1/4 cup egg whites
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tbs mashed avocado

Place pudding in the fridge to chill and set.

*For extra flavor try adding vanilla, nutmeg, peanut butter, cinnamon, peppermint extract, etc.

*For texture, stir in a few cacao nibs or gluten-free cereal for a little crunch.

  1. Mangos-n-Milk

Rinse ½ cup frozen mango chunks (Trader Joe’s organic bag is best) until they’re still frozen but slightly softened. Cut chunks into halves and place in a small bowl.

Pour ¼ cup full-fat coconut cream over the top. Sweeten with Stevia if desired and stir.

The semi-frozen mango will chill the coconut cream, turning it into a slush. Oh-em-gee.

  1. Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Protein Shake
  • ½ or 1 whole banana (preferably frozen)
  • 2 eggs or 1 scoop of quality protein powder
  • 2 tbs cocoa or cacao powder
  • 1 tsp to 2 tbs peanut butter (your choice)
  • pinch of quality salt
  • stevia to taste
  • water and ice as needed

*optional: vanilla, cinnamon, allspice nutmeg, etc.

Blend, pour into a wine glass, and prepare to Moan Out Loud. 😉

  1. Fruit and cheese plate

Fill a small plate with a clump of cold grapes, a slice of cheese, dried fruit, organic salami, and nuts.

  1. A protein bar

Most protein bars are overly processed and loaded with sugar and artificial ingredients. Some brands that aren’t completely terrible are Rise, Quest, and Oatmega. They’ll slay a sweet tooth for sure.

  1. Almond stuffed dates

Take pitted dates and stuff each with two raw almonds. Sprinkle with pink Himalayan salt. Just be sure not to go overboard as dates are very high in sugar!
